This bold magenta velvet recliner came to us carrying a good amount of built-up soil and staining - the seat cushion and footrest especially had that dull, flattened look that comes from regular use over time. Nothing catastrophic, but definitely past the point where a quick wipe-down was going to cut it.
Velvet is one of those fabrics that needs a careful touch. Too aggressive and you can crush the pile permanently. Too light and you barely move the soil. We used a professional hot water extraction tool to work through the fabric evenly, pulling out the embedded grime without damaging the texture or the color.
The seat area - which always takes the most abuse - came out noticeably cleaner. The deep magenta color came back looking rich and even again across the whole chair, cushions included. That's really what a proper upholstery cleaning does. It doesn't just address surface-level dirt. It pulls out what's been settling into the fibers over months of use.
People are often surprised by how much soil a piece of furniture can hold without it being obvious at first glance. Regular upholstery cleaning doesn't just keep things looking good - it also extends the life of the fabric itself. Letting soil and oils sit in the fibers long-term actually breaks them down faster. Cleaning it out keeps the material in better shape over time.
We serve Van Nuys and the surrounding San Fernando Valley area. If you've got a chair, sofa, or any other upholstered piece that's due for a refresh, this is exactly the kind of work we do every day.
